Ligonier wrestler wins title
Ligonier Valley High School wrestlers Josh Patrick and Justin Patrick wrestled March 1 and 2 in the SWPIAA AA Regional Championship. Senior Josh Patrick finished first in the 120-pound weight-class winning his first regional championship. Junior Justin Patrick, finished second in the 113-pound division, which means both brothers moved onto the PIAA AA State Championship.
Josh Patrick finished third in his last three regional tournaments,
“It feels good, it was a good victory, but it wasn't how I wanted to win,” Josh said. “I shouldn't have given up the points that I did. I gave up one escape and two stalling points. Those were given points. But I'm happy; a win is a win.”
Ligonier Valley basketball is a team effort for Hepner family
When a player has a parent for a coach, they frequently catch extra flack for mistakes. When Ligonier Valley freshman Trent Hepner does not run a play right on the basketball court, he hears about it from three different directions.
Trent's father, Todd, is the head coach of the basketball team, assisted by Trent's grandfather, Wayne, and older brother, Joey. On game night, Trent's mother, Lani, keeps the score book for the Rams.

Ligonier Valley football unable to stop Penns Manor's run
Ligonier Valley hosted two undefeated teams, who played in front of a capacity crowd at Weller field in the showdown for the Heritage Conference Championship. The game-deciding play came down to an attempted onside kick by the Rams, which Penns Manor recovered and ran out the clock to win 19-12.
“It was a great football game,” Ligonier Valley head coach Roger Beitel said. “We were dealt some adversity and we battled back and battled back, and these kids left it all out on the field. It's sports. Sometimes you lose, but we did it with class and we did it for 48 minutes with our guys sticking together like warriors; like a band of brothers. And I couldn't be more proud of that.”
